Blog Roll

A Friendly Suggestion, Kofi

Join the ""Troops Home Fast", Kofi.  If you and everyone else at the U.N. would join the Fast, I believe it would be just as effective in bringing about  "comprehensive Middle East Peace" as anything else the U.N. could do.  No rolling fast, though!  You want the Full-Tilt- Jamba-Juice-With-Protein-Powder-Warrior-for-Peace type of Fast, like Mother Sheehan.

Of course, the United States and Israel would be exempt from the Fast, since they need their strength for fighting, for enforcing the U.N. Resolutions you never did the least thing to enforce.

P.S. You're welcome for this good advice, since you seem to be in need of a few ideas, Kofi.  Now, just drink your kool-aid... er, juice... and be quiet.  All that talk takes too much energy when one is fasting.

Light Blogging

I haven't been blogging recently because my father is dying with a very aggressive, fast-growing cancer, and I've been either traveling to see him or emailing and/or talking on the phone with relatives about him.  I plan to blog soon about "end of life" issues, but I'm not ready yet.

I have been keeping up with the news and blogging about the war between Hamas, Hezbollah (sp?-- so many spellings) and Israel.  I will probably write more about that soon, too, but at the moment all I want to say is that I'm very pleased it has blown the unserious, misguided Democrats like Nancy Pelosi and Murtha out of the news.   Who cares what they have to say?  Ditto Dean.

Welcome to Scrap Quilt

Some quilts are carefully planned and made from a limited number of fabrics, each fabric chosen before the quilt is started, each fabric chosen in order to achieve a specific harmony of color, contrast and pattern in the finished quilt.  Scrap quilts are not made that way.  Scrap quilts are pieced together using a wide variety of different fabrics.  A quilter might begin a scrap quilt using whatever interesting bits of fabric are on hand at the time.  As other, different fabrics become available to the quilter, they are often incorporated into the scrap quilt.  While there is often the appearance of randomness in a scrap quilt, there is usually some personal logic, not always apparent to others, in the way the quilter chooses and uses those bits and pieces of fabric.

I chose the title Scrap Quilt because my blog will probably be made up of posts on a variety of topics, depending on what life presents at any given time, and what I find interesting.
